The link below will take you to an article about Bill Gates and Microsoft giving away free software to students.  I would like for you to read the article and leave a post as to whether or not you think this is a good idea for Microsoft and whether or not students (such as yourself) would take advantage of such an offer.

I think that allowing students to receive new software for wrinting webpages and Media-rich webpages is good for education because it prepares students for the future education of America, in the technological age.

It started out as sounding real good, but towards the end it reveals that it’s just a market plow to get students to buy their products. It even said that.
They’re also trying to take away from Adobe, which offers a lot of great software. But maybe it’ll spark a rivalry, and when two companies fight for consumer loyalty, they make better products, which means that we, the consumer, will be getting better products. And I see now harm in actually getting good material.

I guess it’s all in good business, and if I get free software I’ll be a rather happy camper. All I ever really use is MS word, but if it’s free, even better!

I think Microsoft has a good idea and knows that it will get a lot more high school and college kids using their software. A lot of kids might not need it or use it, but it’s free so they’ll download it. I think it’s just an attempt for Mircosoft to get more business with the younger generation. Apple has been making a lot of new breakthroughs and has converted many fans of the old Windows and to Apple. Microsoft has a good idea with their free software and will get a lot of business because if it wasn’t free they might not have ever used their programs.

I think that the free software is a good idea because students need to try new software, and they might be like, “hey its free, lets try it” and then they will realize that its a good program and it will help them out.

i think this is a good idea for both students and the Microsoft company. We get free softwear and they will continue to get our business.
